Hello, Uriah Matthews here! Hope everyone had a great Independence Day! We had an AWESOME weekend filled with a lot of fun an festivities.
Friday night we featured Bedtime Stories on the pool deck with popcorn, accompanied by a bonfire on the beach where you could grab a skewer and roast a marshmallow for your after dinner treat.
Saturday we kicked the day off with a splash on the Riptide, Super Splash Down and the Aqua Tunnel! From there, our AMAZING Kids Krew staff launched our annual complimentary 4th of July Carnival. At the carnival you could partake in a ring toss, catch a fish, test your quarterback skills, have your face painted, and get your favorite balloon animal from Uncle Sam the stilt walker while enjoying a cold glass of lemonade and a box of buttery popcorn.
As the day winded down and everyone came off the beach we set-up for our cookout and fireworks show. The Sass Band, a trio of multi-talented women, set an upbeat Americana mood for the evening with Motown classics to the latest pop hits. Then an hour into the music we sat approximately 650 fellow patriots for our Independence Day Cookout that comprised of everything from Burgers to Baked Beans to "American Flag" Cakes.
We then finished the evening off with a 30 minute fireworks show taking place on our beautiful white sand beaches. The sky was clear, the moon nearly full, and the temperature was just right with our slight evening sea breeze- the stage was set for a wonderful show. It truly is a gorgeous sight to see the not only the sky but the entire beach and Gulf illuminated in the various reds, whites, blues, greens, and golds to name a few of the colors seen.
After being awed by a great fireworks show, some stayed on the deck in the company of friends and family, some jumped in the pools, some walked the beach, some joined others for a drink, but most notably all celebrated another year of our wonderful Republic.
If you didn’t get a chance to make it to the Hilton Sandestin Beach this year to celebrate Independence Day, I highly recommend you make plans to attend next year.
